TOUGALOO FINISHES FOURTH IN GCAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Clinton, MS-The Tougaloo College Women's Cross Country team participated in the GCAC Cross Counctry Championship hosted by Dillard this morning at Choctaw Trails here in Clinton. The Lady Bulldogs finished fourth of six teams with a score of 89 points.
After finishing fourth in last year's championship, the Lady Bulldogs were looking to finish in the top 3 this season. Unfortunately, that did not happen, as the Lady Bulldogs came up short for the top 3, finishing fourth behind Xavier, Edward Waters, and SUNO. Xavier University won the championship with a score of 15, as the first six runners were all Xavier. Edward Waters and SUNO both finished with 78 points, but Edward Waters was declared the runner-ups, giving SUNO third. Dillard finished fifth with a score of 119 and Fisk came in last with a score of 170.
Brianna Blunt led the Lady Bulldogs, finishing 7th of 37 runners with a time of 20:55.56. Last season, Blunt finished 8th of all runners. Daniela Thomas finished 15th with a time of 23:06.77, Laurel Oldershaw finished 16th with a time of 23:09.22, Toynel Brown finished 25th with a time of 25:27.84, Erin Wells finished 26th with a time of 25:42.55, Whitney Warnsley finished 27th with a time of 26:02.05, and Keisha Mackall finished 29th with a time of 28:17.33. The Lady Bulldogs had a good season this year and looks forward to a better season next year.
