Lady Bulldogs on a Five Game Losing Skid
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Lady Bulldogs are on a five-game losing skid following a 3-2 heartbreaker to William Carey University tonight in Hattiesburg.
The Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Crusaders battled it out in one of the Lady Bulldogs' best games this season. The Lady Crusaders fought their way past the Lady Bulldogs to win the first set 25-22, but the Lady Bulldogs rebounded to pick up 25-22 wins in sets two and three to go up 2-1. With the Lady Bulldogs looking like they were about to snap their losing skid, the Lady Crusaders came roaring back as they forced the match into a fifth set with a 25-16 fourth set win. In the fifth set, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Crusaders battled it out, but the Lady Crusader upheld the Lady Bulldogs and claimed the home victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Carolyne Edwards led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 kills and 17 digs. Megan Besecker followed with 11 kills and 12 digs and Obadiah Montgomery had a season high 10 kills. Jedda Alcee led the defense with 24 digs and Alexandra Jwainat added 15 digs along with 35 assists. Montgomery also contrinuted 6 blocks for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday as they host Southern University of New Orleans in conference play. Match is set for 1:00 P.M. in the Dawg Pound.
