CRAFT MAKES NAIA ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Tougaloo, MS – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Wednesday its 2013-14 Division I Women's Basketball All-American Teams. Portia Craft of Tougaloo has been tabbed as a third team selection.
Craft, the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Player of the Year and three-time All-GCAC selection led the conference in scoring and finished third in the nation with an average of 22.5 points per game. She finished seventh in the conference in steals (2.21) and fifteenth in rebounding (6.36). Craft scored in double figures in all 28 games for the Lady Bulldogs with at least 20 points in 18 contests and posted 30 or more three times. She has been named to the All-Tournament team and has received numerous Player of the Week honors throughout her career. Last season, she was an All-American honorable mention selection. In her storied career at Tougaloo, Craft scored 1858 points.
Chasity Kearney was named an All-American Honorable Mention selection for the second consecutive year. Kearney, a senior from South Panola, MS was ranked second in the conference and the nation in rebounding with an average of 14.5 rebounds per game. She finished second in the conference in scoring (19.9) and fourth in blocking (1.15). Kearney scored in double figures in 24 of the Lady Bulldogs' 28 games and grabbed a double-double (scoring and rebounding) in 22 of those games. She is a two-time GCAC All-Conference and All-Tournament selection and the 2012-2013 GCAC Newcomer of the Year. In her storied career at Tougaloo, Kearney scored 1059 points and grabbed 740 rebounds.
