BULLDOGS SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF SEASON
New Orleans, La. - After a 3-0 start, the Bulldogs traveled to New Orleans to play in one of their toughest match-ups of the season against former GCAC foe and reigning GCAC Champions Xavier University. The Bulldogs fought hard, but the Gold Rush proved too much for the Bulldogs and hands them their first loss of the season with a 68-53 win over the Bulldogs.
In the first half, the Gold Rush jumped out early, but midway to late in the half the Bulldogs rallied back to cut the Gold Rush lead to 7 going into halftime with a 31-24 deficit. In the second half, the Gold Rush shot 40% from behind the arc and 45% from the field to take the win over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs shot 29% from the field, 22% from behind the arc and 66% from the free throw line and was outrebounded 46-36 in the first loss.
Antwan Beans led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Cameron Copeland followed with 12 points. The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, November 5th in their fourth game in 5 days as they travel to Itta Bena, Miss. for an exhibition game against Division I SWAC foe Mississippi Valley State University. Game is set for 6:00 P.M.
