Strong Second Half Lift Bulldogs Past Rust
Holly Springs, Miss. - The Tougaloo College Bulldogs are off to a great start following a 94-76 victory over Rust College on last night in Holly Springs.
The Bulldogs opened the 2017-18 campaign with a 79-66 win over the Bearcats on November 2nd in the Dawg Pound. This meeting equaled the same results, but the Bulldogs would have to fight back in the second half to get the win. In the first half of play, the Bearcats dominated the Bulldogs, taking as much as a 15 point lead over the Bulldogs. At halftime, the Bearcats held a 47-40 lead over the Bulldogs. In the second half, however, it all belonged to the Bulldogs as they demolished the Bearcats to advance to 4-1 on the season.
Denarius Odell led four Bulldogs in double figures with 30 points. Tonzell Handy followed with 27 points and 16 rebounds, Carlo McDonald tacked in 13 points and 10 rebounds and Jadarius Haymer rounded out double figure scoring for the Bulldogs with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, November 28th as they host Selma University in the Battle of the Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 7:00 P.M. in the Dawg Pound.
