BULLDOG STANDOUT PLAYS IN HBCU ALL-STAR GAME
Tougaloo, Miss. - Bulldog baseball standout Tyler Hickman recently played in the 2022 Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game in Atlanta, GA.
Hickman, a 2022 Continental Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference selection, was chosen along with other great baseball players from HBCUs around the world. The game was played at Truist Park, home of the 2021 World Baseball Champions, the Atlanta Braves.
The week of programming was designed to allow each HBCU player to receive an all-star experience and exposure. The Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game presented by the Henry Louis Aaron Fund serves as a platform to celebrate HBCU institutions, HBCU All-Stars, local Black businesses, the Henry Louis Aaron Fund, and the MBP Helping Hands Foundation over the course of 2 days.
Hickman played on the Marquis Grissom Team, which was the home team. Their opponents were the Marvin Freeman Team. Marquis Grissom's team pulled out the victory 6-2. Marquis Grissom is a former major league center fielder who played for the Atlanta Braves.
When asked about his experience, Hickman stated "It was a truly unbelievable experience that my family and I had the opportunity to enjoy. I got to be apart of the kids clinic which helped 1,000 kids fine tune their skills. The game was absolutely a dream come true. Playing at that field, on that stage, signing autographs and hearing my name called along with some of the best HBCU talent was really an amazing feeling."
