BULLDOGS GO DOWN IN CROSSTOWN SHOWDOWN
Jackson, MS-On Wednesday, the Bulldogs were in a crosstown showdown, as they traveled crosstown to take on rivals Belhaven University at Smith-Wills Stadium and Jackson State University at Bob Braddy Field. The Bulldogs dropped both games, losing 3-2 to the Blazers in 9 innings and 2-1 to the Tigers in 10 innings.
In the first game against the Blazers, John Dillon Alford received the loss for the Bulldogs; going seven innings and giving up three runs on nine hits and only walking one batter. Enmanuel Frias led the Bulldogs' offense with two hits. Tony Mitchell followed with one hit and scored both of the Bulldogs' runs. Corlis Oliver had one hit and one RBI and Riki Vasquez closes out the Bulldogs' offense with one hit.
In the 2-1 loss to the Tigers, Alexander Sanders received the loss for the Bulldogs; only going 1.1 innings and giving up the winning run on three hits and striking out one batter. With bases loaded and one out in the 10th inning, Sanders would walk the batter to give the Tigers the victory. Rodney McKay was the starting pitcher; going eight innings and giving up one run on five hits, walking three batters, and striking out two batters. Dustin Porter led the Bulldogs' offense with two hits and one run. Riki Vasquez followed with two hits and one RBI. Enmanuel Frias, Lige Mims, Jabarii Carr all had one hit apiece.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 as they host the Wolfpack of Loyola University in New Orleans. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
