Tougaloo, MS-The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference recently announced its Players of the Week for the week ending April 29, 2012. Tougaloo's
John Alford received GCAC Pitcher of the Week and
Derell McLemore received GCAC Player of the Week for their performances on last week.
Alford, a sophomore pitcher from Morton, MS had an excellent performance on last week, first against Division I Mississippi Valley State University and Division II University of New Orleans. On Tuesday against the Delta Devils, Alford pitched six innings, giving up five runs on eight hits for an ERA of 6.00. He struck out seven and walked four as the Delta Devils defeated the Bulldogs 5-1. In the final game of the season against the University of New Orleans on Saturday, Alford pitched six innings, giving up two runs on six hits, both runs coming off errors, giving him an ERA of 0.00. He struck out three and walked only one.
McLemore, a freshman outfielder from Lumberton, MS also had an excellent performance on last week against the Delta Devils and Privateers. In the doubleheader against the Delta Devils, McLemore went 2-5 from the plate with two stolen bases. In the three game series against the Privateers, McLemore went 5-12 from the plate.
