Tougaloo, Miss. - Tougaloo College forward Montoria Atkinson has been named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Nov. 20 – Nov. 27.  

Atkinson, a junior from Jackson, Miss., was dominant on the boards for the Lady Bulldogs last week, grabbing 48 in three games. She posted two double-doubles and missed a third by just one point, finishing the week with averages of 10.3 points and 16 rebounds per game. She also shot better than 54 percent from the floor.  Atkinson ranks eighth nationally in rebounding average at 12 boards per game.

This is her first Player of the Week award this season.

Dillard's Alyssa Washington nearly posted a triple-double against Huston-Tillotson with nine points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists...Bianca Thornton scored 26 points and grabbed five steals for Edward Waters against Voorhees College...Talladega forward Tajanee Wells averaged 18 points and six rebounds in three games against Top 20 opponents...Xavier's Maya Trench helped lead the Gold Nuggets to three straight wins, averaging 11.7 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in the victories.
